Abstract
Cystinuria is an autosomal recessive disorder characterized by a defect in intestinal and renal tubular transport of dibasic amino acids which results in excessive urinary excretion of cystine. Because of the relative insolubility of cystine in urine, patients with this condition are prone to recurrent stone formation. Urinary tract calculi composed primarily of cystine are rare in adults and children. These are usually pure and found exclusively in patients with cystinuria. Herein we report on a 78 year-old womenwith a leftureter stone composed primarily of cystine which was confirmed by chemical analysis method postoperatively.
